Job Description

Missouri Military Academy is looking for an energetic, innovative candidate to fill an available summer internship in the Academy’s Office of Marketing and Communications. This position provides a unique opportunity to build a marketing/communications/design resume and photography portfolio and to gain professional experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Internship Responsibilities: Intern will be responsible for …

• Photography during MMA summer camps (co-ed), following our campers in their active days and evenings

• Contribute to social media platforms, sharing photos to update families on their campers’ activities

• Assist with online photo and video galleries

• Assist with video slideshow creation for final camp ceremonies

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications and Creative Marketing Photographer

Internship Requirements: The ideal candidate is an undergraduate or graduate student majoring in photography, art, communications, public relations, marketing or graphic design or a graduate in those areas who seeks to build their professional experience.

• Experience with various social media platforms

• Excellent photography skills

• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills

• Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

• Proficiency in computer skills and applications (Microsoft Office and Adobe CS experience is a plus)

• Ability to work as a member of a team and in an individual capacity

• Interest in furthering the cause of a nonprofit educational institution and broadening the experience of young people

• Ability to commit 40 hours per week, with a flexible structure, often working outdoors in a fast-paced environment

• Background check

Compensation: $15/hour. Room and board in a residence hall may be available.

Physical demands and work environment: The physical demands and work environmentcharacteristics described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Physical demands: While performing this job, the employee must be able to lift 30 pounds, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and keyboards; reach with hands and arms (both), balance, stoop, and stand for at least two hours at a time. The employee must be able to climb multiple flights of stairs multiple times daily. The specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. Work is performed inside and outside in all types of weather conditions with slipping, tripping and bumping hazards.
