We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Assistant to support our payroll operations in a fully remote capacity. The ideal candidate will assist in processing payroll, maintaining accurate employee records, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll on a biweekly or semi-monthly basis
Review timesheets, attendance records, and payroll data for accuracy and completeness
Maintain and update employee payroll records, including wages, deductions, and benefits
Support the administration of employee benefits, tax withholdings, and direct deposits
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and compensation
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and company policies
Assist with payroll reporting, audits, and documentation as required
Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to resolve discrepancies and improve payroll processes
Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information at all times
Required Qualifications
Must be currently based in the United States.
Must have a valid U.S. work authorization (citizen, permanent resident, or valid work permit).
Proven experience in payroll, accounting, or administrative support (1–3 years preferred).
Familiarity with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms).
Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment.
Knowledge of multi-state payroll processing.
Work Schedule
Flexible remote schedule with standard business hours (Monday–Friday). Occasional extended hours may be required during payroll cycles or audits.
