Job Title: Security & Safety Officer

Reports To: Facilities Supervisor

Type of position: Non-Exempt / Hourly

Employee Classification: Seasonal, Safety-Critical

Location: Tucson, AZ

Compensation: $15.15 - $17.00 per hour

Job Summary:

The Security & Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment by actively monitoring the premises and patrolling various locations throughout the park. This role works closely with leadership to address safety concerns, respond to incidents, and support overall park operations. During non-peak periods, the Security & Safety Officer will assist with maintenance and groundskeeping projects, contributing to the upkeep and presentation of the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Patrol park grounds on foot and/or via motorized vehicles to ensure safety and security.
  • Monitor and authorize the entry and exit of employees, visitors, and other individuals at the backstage entrance.
  • Respond promptly to all security needs and calls for service.
  • Report and communicate any suspicious activity to the appropriate parties.
  • Provide customer service and assistance to park patrons and employees as needed.
  • Collaborate with local public agencies in response to serious security concerns.
  • Complete daily reports documenting activities and noting irregularities such as property damage, equipment issues, theft, unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
  • Investigate reported disturbances and take appropriate action.
  • Prepare detailed written reports and obtain statements from victims and witnesses regarding security and safety incidents.
  • Maintain accurate records of keys, radios, and other facility equipment signed out from the Security post.
  • Assist with maintenance, landscaping, and general facility projects during downtime.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Skill & Work Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in effective de-escalation techniques.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patron, employee, and company information.
  • Strong memory and recall skills, with the ability to quickly retrieve relevant information during incidents.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check as a condition of employment.

Work Environment:

  • Outdoor amusement park and event venue setting with exposure to heat, dust, cold, and changing weather conditions.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays (Required).
  • Physical demands include standing for extended periods, walking long distances on uneven or unsteady surfaces, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working outdoors in varied weather.
  • Ability to traverse various areas of the facility to conduct inspections and plan security procedures.
  • Comfortable working in a Western-themed entertainment environment that includes live performances, large crowds, strobe lights, darkness, enclosed spaces, loud music, sound effects, and smoke-filled areas.
