This position will reside in the Air Rescue Bureau of MDFR and will work approximately nine (9) – 24-hour shifts per month OR work 4 days – 10-hour shifts. The incumbent in this position will be required to work rotating shifts inclusive of weekends and holidays and must be available to work 24/7 during emergency activations, until the activation has been lifted. Air Rescue units respond to on-scene trauma calls, medical transports, and Search and Rescue (SAR) missions; support wildland firefighting utilizing the Bambi bucket; transport the Special Response Team (SRT), Technical Rescue Team (TRT), Urban Search and Rescue (US&R), and Hazardous Material (HazMat); deploy divers to a working scene; and perform day/night land and ocean-based hoist work. This position will be subject to an interview and flight evaluation assessments.
The annual salary of this position incorporates the following: Air Rescue Bureau, Fire Hazardous, and Fire Rescue Response Non-EMT pay incentives. The employee will be required to obtain a valid State of Florida Firefighter Certification or State of Florida EMT certification prior to the completion of their probationary year; should the EMT certification be obtained, the employee will receive a 21% pay incentive. Additionally, during employment, other pay incentives may be added to the base pay once specific certifications and/or licenses have been acquired. Job Requirements
Must possess a Commercial Pilot Rotorcraft-Helicopter Certificate Rating and Class 2 Medical Certificate. Completion of a minimum of 2,000 hours pilot-in-command rotorcraft-helicopter, to include 500 hours rotorcraft-helicopter turbine-engine, 250 hours rotorcraft-helicopter night flight-time, and 50 hours rotorcraft-helicopter flight time in the preceding 12 months. Must obtain a valid State of Florida Firefighter Certification, or State of Florida EMT certification within one year of probation. Must attain Agusta AW139 type rating within one year of probation and maintain valid rating throughout employment.
