Artist-in-Residence: Photography

Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for an Artist-in-Residence (Photography) position in the Visual Arts Department. The Artist in Residence would teach three courses in introductory and upper-level photography practices, mentor Independent Studies, and create self-designed areas of engagement with F&M and the city of Lancaster. To support our Artists in Residence, F&M will provide full access to our libraries and resources and seek to facilitate collaboration with our faculty, students, and the local community.

Residency expectations:
  • Teach 1 course in the fall semester, 2 in the spring semester, and mentor 1-2 Independent Studies in either semester
  • Exhibit work in the Winter Visual Arts Center's Russo Gallery
  • Offer a public artist presentation of their work to the college and the greater Lancaster community.
  • Explore ways their research and work could engage with the F&M and the city of Lancaster.
  • Be a present and engaged member of the Visual Arts Department
The courses will be taught in person beginning August 24- December 13, 2026, in the Fall 2026 semester and January 12 - April 22, 2027, in the Spring 2027 semester. This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship or health care benefits. The rank will be Artist in Residence and may be renewed annually for up to three years. Applicants should possess an M.F.A., a doctorate, or other terminal degree in Studio Art. College-level teaching experience required. The salary is $28,000 per academic year.
